Evan Bracconeri DPT

Founder and Director

Dr. Evan Bracconeri is the founder and owner of Altius Physical Therapy. He graduated summa cum laude from the University at Buffalo in 2008 before earning his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Columbia University in 2012. During his time at Columbia, he completed clinical rotations in orthopedics and sports medicine, with a special emphasis on endurance athletes. Dr. Bracconeri has served as a clinical instructor for Columbia University’s DPT program since 2014 and for Rutgers University since 2023.

During the first 10 years of his career, Dr. Bracconeri practiced in New York City, where he had the opportunity to work with a wide range of sports and orthopedic injuries across all ability levels, from amateur athletes to Division I and professional competitors. His experience includes treating elite-class marathoners and triathletes, professional tennis and soccer players, Broadway dancers, and competitive cyclists. He has also served as the official physical therapist for the Sugoi/NYC Velo Racing & Development team, one of the largest and fastest-growing competitive women’s cycling teams in the country.

Dr. Bracconeri believes that success in physical therapy is achieved through highly individualized programs designed to meet each patient’s unique goals. He emphasizes patient education, helping individuals understand what is happening with their bodies, identifying underlying factors contributing to their condition, and explaining how physical therapy can help. He employs a wide range of advanced manual therapy techniques honed over years of practice, including active release therapy, mobilization with movement, and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization. He is also a certified Graston technique provider. These hands-on techniques are not only intended to provide pain relief but also to enhance patients’ ability to perform the exercises necessary for long-term recovery.

Additionally, Dr. Bracconeri has extensive expertise in gait analysis, using video analysis to help runners and walkers identify subtle inefficiencies in their stride. Having completed the NYC Marathon and an Ironman 70.3, he understands the unique challenges of pushing physical limits while maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.

In 2023, Dr. Bracconeri founded Altius Physical Therapy with the goal of bringing his unique approach to rehabilitation to Bergen County. Originally from New City, NY, he has lived in the Park Ridge area since 2017 with his wife and two children. He looks forward to serving as a positive force in his community
