Conquer back & neck pain

back pain

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most prevalent conditions in the country and also the largest driver of disability. 1 in 4 Americans will have suffered from LBP in the prior 3 months.  Neck pain (NP) has similar prevalence, with over 70% of people suffering from acute neck pain at some point in their life. Both can have a variety of causes that have structural contributors, such as arthritis, disc degeneration, scoliosis, stenosis and arthropathy.  There can also be mechanical contributors such as stiff joints, muscle spasms, poor postural strength, hypermobility and muscle pattern deviations.

Despite a lack of evidence for their efficacy, opioids and pain killers continue to be prescribed for LBP. PT is an effective, evidenced-based method of treatment for these conditions that bring real, long lasting results and teaches you how to manage any future flare ups.  In many cases, PT can be an alternative to surgery – In certain types of LBP, PT actually achieves the same level of relief and return to function as surgery when looked at long term.

Our therapist will look at you, the individual, to find the drivers of your LBP and NP. Each case  is unique. Contributors to back and neck pain are numerous, encompassing physical, psychological, behavioral and environmental factors.  Some things we consider are:

  • Spinal Mobility
  • Core Strength
  • Hip Strength
  • Pelvic Alignment
  • Flexibility
